A24 To Distribute The Iron Claw Star Zac Efron's Upcoming Thriller "Famous"

Zac Efron is once again getting in the ring with A24. Read on to know more.

According to Deadline, A24 has acquired the domestic distribution rights to the thriller Famous, which stars Zac Efron. This comes after the success of A24's wrestling drama The Iron Claw. Michael Sagol, Sam Esmail, and Chad Hamilton are producing, and Jody Hill is directing. Under the Esmail Corp. banner, Esmail and Hamilton will produce.

Zac Efron will be seen in the film playing the roles of James Jansen, a Hollywood heartthrob, and an adoring fan named Lance Dunkquist. The screenplay for the film has been written by Chad Hodge, who previously adapted Blake Crouch's Wayward Pines trilogy into a television series, and is based on Crouch's critically acclaimed novel.

Dunkquist, our protagonist, has the face of a movie star, and this is the one thing that will change his life. Lance looks just like James Jansen, a Hollywood legend, and he's not just any actor. To fulfil his lifelong ambition, Lance is packing his bags and heading to Los Angeles. Regardless of the circumstances, Lance will achieve fame.

After collaborating on the recently released Christmas film The Iron Claw—which featured Efron, Jeremy Allen White, and Harris Dickinson—the studio and Efron are reuniting for this picture. Not only did the picture garner some of the highest marks for Efron in his career, but it also became one of A24's most financially successful productions, grossing $45 million worldwide. It is one of the most talked-about films to debut on Max this year since its May premiere.
