Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has been rated PG-13 by MPA, which is an increase from the original PG rating. While the original film did contain some of the same elements (such as violent content, macabre and bloody images, strong language, some suggestive material, and brief drug use), it is currently unclear whether the sequel maintains the same tone as the first film or amps up the intensity of the subject matter. The sixth of September marks the release date of Beetlejuice.

The upcoming film starring Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, and Jenna Ortega has been described as follows, according to the article on Comicbook.com which was one of the first pieces to make the news public:

"A return of Beetlejuice! The Deetz family returns to Winter River after three generations are uprooted by an unforeseen tragedy. Astrid, Lydia's defiant teenage daughter, finds the enigmatic town model in the attic and inadvertently opens the portal to the Afterlife, completely upending Lydia's life, who is still haunted by Beetlejuice. Problems are starting to arise in both worlds, so it's just a matter of time until someone mentions Beetlejuice three times and the demon returns to cause his own kind of chaos."
