Brendan Fraser is going to feel the pressure alongside Andrew Scott in the Anthony Maras directorial. Read on to know more.

The D-Day Film "Pressure," Based on the Real Normandy Landings, Will Star Brendan Fraser as Dwight D. Eisenhower

The Oscar-winning star of A24's The Whale will portray Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower in the forthcoming D-Day film Pressure, produced by Working Title and Studiocanal.

Andrew Scott, who played Jim Moriarty on the BBC series Sherlock—starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular eccentric detective—joins Fraser. He starred in Ripley, a Netflix series, in which he was seen playing the lead role of Tom Ripley.

In the cinematic adaptation of the real-life story, Scott will portray James Stagg, the chief meteorologist for Britain, whose duty it was to apprise Eisenhower of the weather conditions that could have made or broken their invasion of Normandy. The outcome of the war and the trajectory of history were profoundly impacted by the intricate decision-making process.

Shooting on Pressure is set to begin in the UK in September and will be directed by Anthony Maras (Hotel Mumbai). According to Deadline, Studiocanal is in charge of global sales, and additional casting is currently taking place.

Deadline was the first to report the news, and the official plot summary is as follows:

“In the 72 hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element — the British weather. Britain’s Chief Meteorological Officer James Stagg is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history, locking him into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership. The wrong conditions could devastate the largest-ever seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence catching on. With only his trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby to confide in, and haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower. With only hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions hang in the balance.”
