In a cinematic universe where heroes come in all shapes and sizes, Ryan Reynolds has carved out a niche for himself as the wisecracking, fourth-wall-breaking superhero Deadpool, as evidenced by his latest release, "Deadpool & Wolverine," which has critics and fans alike raving. This latest instalment in the fourth-wall breaking franchise franchise showcases Reynolds' unique blend of humor and heart, and it's no wonder that it's being hailed as one of the best movies of his career so far. But his talents extend far beyond the red spandex suit and we feel that is something that is also worth taking a look at.

In honour of Deadpool & Wolverine's release and its box office success, we look back at six of his other noteworthy pieces of work that show his acting prowess in its full glory. Read on to know more

Missisipi Grind (2015)

In Missisipi Grind, Ben Mendelsohn takes on the role of Gerry, a skilled but unlucky gambler whose luck takes a turn when he crosses paths with Curtis (played by Ryan Reynolds), a charming and talented poker player. The two form an instant bond and Gerry convinces his newfound companion to join him on a thrilling journey to a renowned high stakes poker game in New Orleans. As they journey down the Mississippi River, Gerry and Curtis explore a variety of establishments, from bars to racetracks, casinos, and pool halls. They encounter moments of exhilaration and disappointment, but their shared experiences create a profound and lasting connection that transcends their adventure.

The film made its theatrical debut in September 2015 and was released by A24. Yes, THAT A24. Fun fact: This film sits on the top of the highest-rated Ryan Reynolds movies of all time with a succulent 91%. That studio has quite an eye for content, does't it?

Adventureisland (2009)

in this film, which is set in the summer of 1987, James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg) finds himself working at Adventureland, a local amusement park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, after his plans to travel Europe and attend graduate school are derailed by his parents' financial troubles.

Despite the less-than-ideal circumstances, James quickly becomes friends with his co-workers, including the charming and mysterious Em (Kristen Stewart), who is also dealing with her own personal issues. As the summer progresses, James and Em grow closer, sharing a love for music and literature, and eventually begin a romantic relationship.

However, their happiness is threatened by the arrival of Connell (Ryan Reynolds), a married maintenance man who has been secretly having an affair with Em. As James discovers the truth about Connell and Em's relationship, he must navigate the complexities of love, friendship, and growing up in this bittersweet coming-of-age tale.

Take a look at the trailer of this roller-coaster ride of a film down below:

Buried (2010)

In this thrilling theatrical presentation, a civilian truck driver in Iraq, Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds) becomes the target of a group of insurgents. After an undisclosed period of time, Paul wakes up in a coffin, armed with only a lighter, a cell phone, and a mounting sense of unease. Confronted with a depleting oxygen supply and a fading battery, Paul finds himself battling feelings of panic, despair, and delirium while he anxiously awaits a potential rescue that may not come soon enough.

Check out the trailer for that movie below:

Free Guy (2022)

In the hilarious and action-packed film "Free Guy," Ryan Reynolds stars as Guy, a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background character in a violent open-world video game. With the help of a mysterious player named Molotov Girl (Jodie Comer), Guy breaks free from his programming and becomes the hero of his own story. As he fights to save the game world from being shut down, Guy must also navigate the complexities of love and friendship in this meta video game adventure. This film too, just like in the case of Deadpool & Wolverine, is brought to you by Shawn Levy.

The Voices (2015)

In the darkly comedic thriller "The Voices," Ryan Reynolds stars as Jerry, a seemingly harmless and upbeat factory worker who struggles with mental illness. Jerry's only companions are his pets, a sarcastic cat named Mr. Whiskers and a friendly dog named Bosco, both of whom he imagines can talk to him.

Jerry develops a crush on Fiona, a coworker in the accounting department, and convinces himself that she reciprocates his feelings. However, when Fiona stands him up for a date, Jerry's fragile mental state begins to unravel.

As Jerry's delusions intensify, he begins to hear his pets encouraging him to commit violent acts. The film takes a sharp turn into horror as Jerry's psychosis leads him down a dangerous path.

"The Voices" is a twisted and darkly humorous exploration of mental illness, featuring a standout performance from Ryan Reynolds as the disturbed and delusional Jerry. Talk about off-beat cinema!

The Adam Project (2022)

In "The Adam Project," Ryan Reynolds plays Adam Reed, a time-traveling fighter pilot from the year 2050 who accidentally crash-lands in 2022. There, he meets his 12-year-old self (Walker Scobell) and teams up with him to save the future. Along the way, they must also confront their past and deal with the recent loss of their father, Louis (Mark Ruffalo). With the help of their mother Ellie (Jennifer Garner) and a mysterious warrior named Laura (Zoe Saldaña), the Adams embark on a mission to fix the past and ensure a better future.
