Deadpool & Wolverine's director explained why it's not called Deadpool 3. Shawn Levy told Marvel's Official Podcast that the two leads sharing a title is a promise, not just marketing. Hugh Jackman's Logan and Ryan Reynolds' beloved Marvel character are equally important in this film. He describes an emotional journey for Deadpool and Wolverine through their friendship in his interview. Even if it doesn't start with the X-Men and his talkative counterpart getting along, the movie tells their story in more ways than the title.

During a conversation with the host of The Official Marvel Podcast, the director said that "This is not called Deadpool 3, there's a reason it's not called Deadpool 3," Levy told the podcast. "Because it's very much Deadpool & Wolverine. That is the defining trait and premise of this picture. It's about two people stuck on a quest, who in normal circumstances would not choose to spend a minute together. And now, they've gotta spend days."

Not too long ago, the architect of MCU, even told Deadline that Deadpool & Wolverine is "The most wholesome R-rated film ever".  We certainly believe that.
