In an interview with DiscussingFilm, Kevin Feige cleverly hinted that Hugh Jackman's comeback as Wolverine in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster "Deadpool & Wolverine" could potentially pave the way for Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Evans to reprise their iconic roles as Iron Man or Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige's statement subtly suggests that no door is truly closed in the world of superheroes, and especially in the MCU, where the possibilities are limitless now, thanks to the barriers of the multiverse being cracked open in the first few minutes of Spiderman: No Way Home.

“That’s the key, right? How do you do it in a way that maintains what has come before, and in a great way? And we’ve been spending, you know, the last two-plus years figuring that out for Wolverine,” Feige told DiscussingFilm when asked about Downey and Evans coming back. “So, what’s to come? We’ll see. We’re just proud that we, I think, have figured it out for Wolverine. I think Hugh’s appearance and starring role in [‘Deadpool & Wolverine’] is a great sign that it can be done — if great care is taken.”

Downey and Evans bid farewell to the franchise in 2019's "Avengers: Endgame," a film that left a lasting impact with the demise of Downey's iconic character, Iron Man/Tony Stark. The Logan/Wolverine that Jackman portrayed on screen in the "X-Men" films since 2000 met his demise in the highly praised "Logan" of 2017. Jackman, being the clever actor he is, had no desire to reprise the role as it would potentially tamper with the legacy of that character. From the moment his Wolverine return was announced, the actor made it clear to fans that it wouldn't mess with the "Logan" timeline. Check out this hilarious video featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, where they personally assure fans of the same:

Interestingly enough, Downey himself has been quite forthcoming this year about his desire to return to Marvel. In an interview with Esquire magazine following his Oscar victory for "Oppenheimer," the actor was questioned about the possibility of rejoining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in light of his newfound status as an Academy Award recipient. The actor responded with a resounding yes, without a moment's hesitation.

“Happily. It’s too integral a part of my DNA,” Downey said. “That role chose me. And look, I always say, ‘Never, ever bet against Kevin Feige.’ It is a losing bet. He’s the house. He will always win.”

While we wait for Downey. Jr to put on the suit and the cool chest piece once again, let's prepare ourselves for the nostalgia trip that is going to be "Deadpool & Wolverine", which is releasing in theatres this Friday. You can find the trailer for the same down below.
