Inside Out 2 Makes Box Office History

Inside Out 2, Disney and Pixar's introspective animated dramedy has widely been

appreciated by audiences and critics alike, and now, thanks to all the love that the film has received, the film has successfully joined the billion dollar club as the film crossed the coveted milestone in ticket sales just a few hours ago as of this writing. This piece of news was broken by renowned Entertainment daily, The Hollywood Reporter.

With this, the animated film has become the first billion-dollar film of the year. What's more interesting is that the film has achieved this feat in a record time of 17 days. The last animated film that posted such numbers was Super Mario Bros, which took 26 days to cross the billion-dollar mark, as per a report on CNBC TV18. On the other hand, the highest grossing animated film of all time, Frozen 2, took about 24 days to get to that number. This certainly makes the second chapter in the life of Riley the fastest runner in the box office race so far.

In addition to that, the latest Disney/Pixar entertainer has become a part of a unique club of those unlikely billion dollar content-driven heroes that took the box office by surprise. The last two entrants in this club were 2023's Super Mario Bros. and Greta Gerwig's Barbie.

Now, the only thing that is left to see whether or not it comes close to, or perhaps even surpasses the number posted by the current record holder in this particular arena, Frozen 2, which sits comfortably at a total of 1.451 billion.
