Joker: Folie A Deux: Casting Director Showers Praises On Lady Gaga

Warner Bros.' unexpected DC smash hit Joker has a big sequel on the horizon, the countdown for which has now begun. The film, which goes by the name of Joker: Folie A Deux, already has fans excited for its October 5 release. The trailer strongly suggests that Joker: Folie à Deux will be a musical starring Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn and Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/Joker. 

As of this writing, much like its prequel, the upcoming Todd Phillips directorial has now begun making rounds in the film festival circuit. And now, we hear that the film’s casting director, Francine Maisler has gone on to speak very highly of Gaga's performance during the panel discussion for the film held at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, one of the many festivals that the film is expected to be screened.

According to Comicbook.com, while discussing Lady Gaga's portrayal of Harley Quinn in the film and the events leading up to her playing the role, Maisler remarked, "She (Gaga) is so good in it (Joker: Folie A Deux), you guys," Maisler explained. "She's going to blow your mind. I didn't suggest Lady Gaga. It wasn't my idea. That was Todd Phillips, before me. But I will tell you, she's really surprising — and really good. I saw it and I was really surprised. I mean, we all knew what she could do in A Star is Born, but I thought, 'Oh, well, that's kind of in her wheelhouse.' Something she could do and just be real. But this… Man, she's good. Joaquin blows your mind, but that she could keep up with him, and be real — and not just wiped off the screen by what that role is and what the performance is — shows she's good."
