Kevin Fiege Reveals That They Have Been Planting Seeds For Mutants For Years Now

While Deadpool & Wolverine prepares to shake theatres, Variety spoke with Marvel Studios' head. Many MCU fans expect the X-Men to appear soon. However, the Marvel Studios president claims that preparations for the same have already been made. His exact quote as per the Variety piece is as follows:

"I wouldn't say when but we've already hinted over the past few years at certain people possessing what will one day be known as the mutant gene. We'll be very excited when we tap into it."

It must be noted that multiple Marvel Studios projects have featured mutant characters already at this point. Two of those are Kamala Khan sand Namor.

People have wanted the X-Men for years, but some viewers will yearn for more than a critically acclaimed animated series. While addressing the same, Feige answered questions on The Marvels red carpet concerning mutants and their upcoming appearance. He was diplomatic and pointed towards Deadpool & Wolverine as a place where one can find answers to the burning question. Here's what the Marvel Head Honcho had to say:

"I dont know if it's delicate, it's super exciting, but the X-Men are as solid and rich and great a concept and characters that exist. (There's) the return of the animated series next year, which we're very excited about. I saw some new final episodes today which really bring you back to that core of who the X-Men are and that soap opera that those characters represent. And in live-action, people will see....perhaps, soon."

Fast forward to today, where Deadpool & Wolverine promises to bring Fox-era antics into the MCU, so we may see a little bit of overlap. In The Multiverse Saga, not seeing X-Men other than Charles Xavier and Wolverine would surely seem a wee bit odd. Here's hoping that the upcoming Shawn Levy directorial will break the door open for more people carrying the X-Gene, however, if the trailers are to go by, the film is gearing up to do exactly that.
