Mad Max: Fury Road Star Charlize Theron Shares Her Thoughts On Anya Taylor-Joy's Furiosa

At Saturday's fourth annual block party for her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, the actress who played Furiosa in Tom Hardy's 2015 film, Mad Max: Fury Road discussed Furiosa and her desire to connect with Anya Taylor-Joy (Who played the younger version of Furiosa in the 2024 film that is named after Theron's character from Fury Road) in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Theron made the following statement while speaking to the prominent daily:

"It's amazing, it's a beautiful film," Theron said of Furiosa. "No, we've really been trying to connect," she added when asked if she's talked to Taylor-Joy since the movie's release. "It's been one of those – we can actually make a comedy out of it. We keep running into each other and in places when we don't have time to really talk to each other, so we're constantly like, 'Oh my god, OK, let's get together!' And then life takes over. But it will happen when it's right."

What Is Furiosa About?

Furiosa takes place fifteen to twenty years before Fury Road and chronicles the life of the titular character for more than ten years, beginning with her abduction by the armies of warlord Dementus (Christopher Hemsworth) and ending with her promotion to the position of Imperator. The military commander Praetorian Jack, played by Tom Burke, befriends Furiosa. Although the George Miller–directed picture received rave reviews upon its release, it couldn't recreate the magic of Fury Road at the box office for some inexplicable reason.
