The Warner Bros.-coproduced European animated film is based on EuropaPark's character mascots and marks the company's production debut.
British actors Gemma Arterton (The King's Men), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones), and Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) will voice Grand Prix of Europe, a new European animated film from Warner Bros. Discovery Germany and Mack Magic, Europa-Park's entertainment arm. This piece of news was first broken by The Hollywood Reporter.
As per the very same article, Arterton will play Edda, a young mouse and the daughter of fairground operator Erwin (voiced by Lenny Henry), who wants to drive race cars. Before the 50th anniversary of the European Grand Prix, Edda meets her idol, racing star Ed (Brodie-Sangster), and helps her father recover his failing business. She must drive herself to do so.
Grand Prix of Europe will be directed by Waldemar Fast, who animated Monster Family and Animals United. Kirstie Falkous, John Reynolds, and Jeff Hylton wrote the script. The film, based on Europa-Park's mascots, will be the first in a family-friendly franchise produced by managing partner Michael Mack. Post-production is in-house, and Mack Animation in Hanover handles animation.
Warner Bros. will distribute Grand Prix of Europe in German-speaking Europe in summer 2025 to celebrate Europa-Park's 50th anniversary. Viva Kids will broadly distribute the film across North America.
