HBO has announced a delightful two-part documentary on the iconic Mel Brooks, directed by the talented duo of Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio, as per an article on The Hollywood Reporter.

The report further states that The HBO Documentary Films and Apatow Productions project is currently in production, chronicling Brooks' remarkable journey from Brooklyn to Hollywood and Broadway. Joe Beshenkovsky, who previously collaborated with Apatow and Bonfiglio on HBO’s four-hour documentary George Carlin’s American Dream, has been chosen to edit the upcoming documentary.

Apatow guarantees an all-encompassing film that delves into the life of the comedic genius responsible for timeless movie farces and parodies. “I went into comedy because of my love for Mel Brooks. This project is the dream of a lifetime,” the Hollywood writer-director-producer exclaimed in a statement.

Brooks' career took off with Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows, where he had the pleasure of collaborating with the legendary Carl Reiner, Neil Simon, and Larry Gelbart. After the teenage comedian in the Catskills dominated the entertainment industry with his sharp-witted comedy, that's what happened.

Brooks was awarded an Oscar for his brilliant screenplay of the uproarious comedy The Producers. In addition to his impressive list of accomplishments, he managed to secure Oscar nominations for a song from Blazing Saddles and the screenplay for Young Frankenstein. It's worth noting that he not only directed the film but also made an appearance in it. Some other notable credits in their filmography include Silent Movie, High Anxiety, History of the World — Part I, and Spaceballs.
