Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet To Lead Amazon Prime Video's Original Series "Home Run"; Co Produced By Peyton Manning

Talk about hitting a Home Run!

Emmy winning actor Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) stars in and executive produces the half-hour single-camera comedy Home Team, which Prime Video has acquired in a competitive situation. The Tannenbaum Company, Zihuatanejo Productions (run by Austin Winsberg), Omaha Productions (run by Peyton Manning), Amazon MGM Studios, Lionsgate Television (which houses both Zihuatanejo and The Tannenbaum Co.), and The Tannenbaum Company are all involved with the project.

The news was broken by Deadline, who also revealed that Jason Belleville wrote the show and that it is based on a story he wrote with Winsberg. The piece goes on to say that the show is an ode to father-son relationships and a comedic with a big heart.

Now stranded, Scott Hansen (Stonestreet) is the focus of Home Team. The show follows him as he helps his dad settle into a retirement community, finds a new job, and learns to appreciate the present moment from those who have far less time on their hands.

According to Deadline, Stonestreet and Manning's close relationships with their fathers served as inspiration for Home Team, which also incorporates a sports theme through Scott Hansen's high school experiences. This brings the two together after Manning made a cameo appearance on Modern Family in 2017, but Stonestreet, a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, joked that he couldn't punch Manning in the gut because he played football for rival teams.

For his portrayal of Cameron Tucker on ABC's Modern Family, Stonestreet received numerous accolades, including two Emmys for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. In Season 2 of The Santa Clauses (Disney+), he played Magnus Antas, also known as the Mad Santa. He made recurrent appearances on American Auto (NBC) and hosted Domino Masters (Fox), a reality competition show.
