The next film by Aditya Dhar, director of Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), will star Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal, according to a joint announcement made on July 27 by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The producers released a black-and-white film starring these five actors and Aditya Dhar, and it quickly became a topic of conversation. On July 25, the makers of the film even took it to the floors.

The film's plot was not specified in the press release, but rumour has it that it is an action thriller set in the past that takes place in Pakistan and India in the midst of a geopolitical crisis. Rumours quickly circulated that Ranveer would portray a younger version of Ajit Doval, who is now India's national security advisor.

Despite the fact that the film touches upon Ajit Doval's life, BollywoodHungama has learnt that Ranveer will not be playing the role. The source in question said that "It is R Madhavan who plays the coveted part. He’ll have a cool, different look in the film and it’s something that the actor is excited about. Like always, he’s giving his heart and soul to this role as well. The makers are confident that it’s something to watch out for.”

Nevertheless, the aforementioned source failed to disclose whether the character would be named Ajit Doval or if it would draw inspiration from the man. Furthermore, nothing is known about the character that Ranveer Singh plays.

Oddly enough, this is Aditya Dhar's second film featuring Ajit Doval, or a character inspired by him. The character of Govind Bhardwaj, played by Paresh Rawal, in Uri: The Surgical Strike was inspired by Ajit Doval.

Despite widespread assumption to the contrary, the film is not titled Dhurandhar, as stated in the official press release. Right now, the film doesn't have a title. Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios, Lokesh Dhar of B62 Studios, and Aditya Dhar of Jio Studios are attached to the feature in the capacity of producers.
