An ambitious adaptation of the epic Ramayana, conceived by Nitesh Tiwari, is quickly becoming a tangible reality. With Ranbir Kapoor as its lead, the film is sure to be an eye-popping extravaganza, and new info suggests the filmmaker isn't holding back in his efforts to recreate the mythical realm.

According to a report on BollywoodHungama, twelve expansive sets are currently being constructed at Film City. Ayodhya and Mithila, the cities associated with Ram and Sita, respectively, will be recreated on these lavish sets, which have been designed to accommodate the film's 3D format, according to a report in Mid-Day. Mid-August is the target date for finishing these enormous constructions.

Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita opposite Kapoor, and veteran actor Arun Govil, who played Ram in the legendary TV series Ramayan, will play King Dasharath, round out the cast. Ravana is a role that Yash has signed on for, and it will likely define his career.

As per the same report, the principal cast is scheduled to resume shooting in late August, marking the next phase of the production, which has previously focused on capturing Shri Ram's younger years. It has been revealed that the film will be structured as a two-part epic, which is quite surprising.

The producers of Ramayana are taking a bolder tack than is typical in the film industry, which typically approves a sequel depending on how well the first one does. The first and second parts will likely be shot at the same time, which will save a lot of time, the report further states.

The 350-day production schedule includes both solo and group scenes and was painstakingly crafted by the team. The plan is to finish principal photography for both parts by December 2025, giving DNEG, a world-renowned visual effects studio, plenty of time to work on the post-production. The release date is still a mystery, but it will likely be revealed as soon as principal photography is wrapped.

Pinkvilla also claims that Kunal Kapoor has started training for his Ramayana role. The actor's hectic schedule with costume trials and rehearsals is a reflection of the seriousness and commitment to the film. Fans and industry insiders alike are very curious about Kunal's involvement, even though details about his character are still unknown.
