Robert Downey Jr. And The Russo Brothers To Go Back Home With A Heavy Paycheck For "Avengers: Doomsday" And "Avengers: Secret Wars": Report

Marvel is going back to its tried and true methods after a year that felt like a never-ending boxing match. It's like a dream come true - getting back together with the incredible Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo brothers, the masterminds behind the studio's biggest hits "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame."

However, reuniting the key members of the old gang is going to cost a pretty penny. According to insiders at Variety, Marvel Studios is shelling out a whopping $80 million to hire Anthony and Joe Russo to direct not one, but two Avengers films - "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Avengers: Secret Wars". And if that wasn't enough, they're also reportedly paying Robert Downey Jr. a whole lot more to take on the role of the ultimate baddie, Doctor Doom, in both of these blockbuster films.

Downey, the man who single-handedly turned Marvel into a cash cow with his portrayal of Tony Stark in the iconic 'Iron Man' movie back in 2008, has struck a deal that's packed with some seriously awesome perks. We're talking private jet travel, top-notch security and even a whole 'trailer encampment' just for this newly crowned Oscar winner. Talk about living the high life!

Meanwhile, as per the very same Variety piece, the Russos' agreement doesn't come with any fancy back-end compensation, but it does have some performance escalators that come into play when the numbers hit $750 million and $1 billion. Talk about aiming high!

Even more unusual for Marvel, the brothers will be producing the two films under their AGBO banner. Normally, the studio usually avoids collaborating with outside producers in favour of keeping everything in-house.

Furthermore, in another article by Variety itself, insiders spilt the beans to Variety that the mastermind behind the MCU had a singular demand for his grand return: the Russo brothers had to be back in the director's chairs.

"They were the only ones he would work with," according to an insider who apparently has all the juicy details, as reported by Variety.
