The John Wick Cinematic Universe To Get Bigger With "John Wick: Under The High Table"; Details Inside

Another TV iteration is being considered for the John Wick franchise. Keanu Reeves, known for his iconic role as the title character in four films, is teaming up with director Chad Stahelski as executive producers for a thrilling sequel series currently in development at Lionsgate Television. Robert Levine (The Old Man, Black Sails) has been brought on board as the writer and showrunner for the project, titled John Wick: Under the High Table. The Hollywood Repoerter was amongst the first dailies to break the news.

As per the very same THR article that first made the news public, Stahelski, the director of all four John Wick feature films and the creative overseer of the franchise through a deal with Lionsgate, is also slated to direct the pilot episode of the series.

Lionsgate, the production company behind the immensely successful franchise, is reportedly on a hunt currently for potential buyers for Under the High Table.

If it moves forward, Under the High Table would be the second TV series in the John Wick franchise. Peacock aired the prequel miniseries The Continental in 2023, which takes place at the hotel that serves as a sanctuary for the assassins that are central to the world of the film.

The events of Under The High Table follow that of John Wick: Chapter 4. THR quotes the official logline of the film as follows:

“John Wick has left the world of the High Table in a tenuous position and a collection of new characters will look to make a name for themselves while some of the franchise stalwart characters remain committed to the old-world order. The series will combine new and old and thrust the Wick universe into a new age.”

In addition to the potential TV series, Lionsgate is also working on two spinoff films within the Wick-verse. One of them is Ballerina, set to release in 2025 and featuring Ana de Armas. The other film will focus on Caine, the character played by Donnie Yen in John Wick 4.

Stahelski, along with his 87Eleven Entertainment, will be taking on the role of executive producer for Under the High Table. Joining him in this exciting project are Reeves, Levine, Basil Iwanyk, and Erica Lee of Thunder Road.
