The Long Awaited "Spawn" Movie Is Now Called "King Spawn"; Confirms Todd McFarlane

The legendary comic book artist Todd McFarlane announced today on social media that the much-anticipated Spawn film would be called King Spawn. A script cover that McFarlane just posted to Instagram serves as the announcement; it implies that the script is complete and that production may begin soon. The post can be found below:

The plot, which has likely been adapted for the big screen, follows Spawn as he faces mounting pressure to become the king of Hell following the escape of one of the most terrifying creatures in history. It followed McFarlane's historic 300th issue of Spawn in 2019, which was followed by a slew of spinoff titles.

As San Diego Comic Con is taking place this week, it would be surprising if either McFarlane or Blumhouse Productions didn't have something to announce. Director Jason Blum of Blumhouse Studios previously stated his intention to release the film in theatres in 2025. Even with a small budget and a rushed shoot, it's still within the realm of possibility if production were to begin soon.
