Jeff Bridges, John Lithgow, and the creative team behind FX's The Old Man revealed one important detail about the spy thriller's second season hours before its September premiere announcement. And that piece of detail in question is that the two stalwarts will finally be seen sharing screen space together. One of the first news portals who made this news public was The Hollywood Reporter.
As per the very same THR report, the pair will be seen teaming up to rescue Bridges' character's daughter, Alia Shawkat from Afghanistan in the second season of The Old Man.
When promoting the 2022 premiere of The Old Man, Bridges said that his only regret about the show was that he didn't get to spend much time on camera with Lithgow. Their characters, a former CIA agent on the run (Bridges) and an FBI assistant director (Lithgow), were playing a game of cat and mouse. At the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Wednesday morning, Lithgow said, "I so wanted to work with Jeff." He was speaking at a talk for The Old Man. "And there is an abundance of it in the second season." "We have such a fantastic time."
Jeff Bridges Shares An Uplifting Update On His Health
Bridges, who famously had to miss filming the first season due to COVID-19 and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, gave another positive update. “I’m feeling great now,” Bridges remarked. to this, he added, "I’m coming back for more punishment. What is so bizarre to me is that [filming fight scenes in season one,] I had a 9- by 12-inch tumor in my stomach that didn’t hurt at all.”
