The Russo Brothers To Return To Marvel To Helm Avengers 5 And 6: Report

The Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, are reportedly getting ready to assemble a team once again.

According to a source cited by The Hollywood Reporter, the top entertainment daily that initially reported the news, the Russo Brothers are reportedly in early stages of negotiations to rejoin Marvel Studios as directors of not one, but the upcoming two Avengers films.

After a months-long, high-stakes search, the studio has finally found a director to direct the fifth and sixth Avengers films. According to the same THR article, director Shawn Levy (Deadpool and Wolverine) was one of several finalists for the role. Rumour has it that negotiations are still in their early stages.

The Russo brothers, who were previously known for their work on Arrested Development and Community, made a splash on the big screen with 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, after a decade away from television comedy. Their directing credits include four critically acclaimed and commercially successful Marvel features: Captain America: Civil War(2016), Avengers: Infinity War(2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Endgame ranked second all-time with $2.79 billion, and their combined Marvel films grossed $6.681 billion.
