Just a few days before the first episodes of Marvel's X-Men '97 were made available on Disney+, series showrunner Beau DeMayo abruptly left the company. This led to an unusual premiere for the series earlier this year. Executives at Marvel continued to speak well of DeMayo, and he himself continued to discuss the show when new episodes kept surfacing onto the platform, but no formal explanation for the split was ever provided.
As per a report on ComicBook.com, There is now new information on the future of Marvel's X-Men '97. According to a rumour from Deadline, Marvel's What If...? writer Matthew Chauncey will take over as the series' writer.
The deal indicates that Chauncey will take over for Beau DeMayo as the show's principal writer. However, Chauncey's true assignment will be to write Marvel's X-Men '97's upcoming season 3. Beau DeMayo had already developed X-Men '97's first and second seasons before he left Marvel Studios. The story continues by stating that while Chauncey's work on season 3 is already underway, the scripts for season 2 have been altered. Alongside him will be consulting producers Larry Houston, Eric Lewald, and Julia Lewald (who rejoined the Marvel team after working on X-Men: The Animated Series in the 1990s), as well as returning head director Jake Castorena.
